Edith Hahn moved place to place. Through out the story, she has to undergo many obstacles and her location is part of this. She first started in Vienna, Austria, which is her home. As soon as the Nazis came, she was forced into a ghetto. Though she wasn't there for so long, she began to change and she was finally shipped of to an asperagus plantation in Germany. This affected her greatly from oral hygiene to her knowledge. She even claimed that if you came here dumb, you stay dumb, but if you came here smart, then it would dumb you down. She was finally able to return, but escaped not to her home, but to Germany as Grete. She traveled to Munich, Germany where she "fell in love" again with a guy she barely knew and got married. She traveled to Russia to bring him backafter being captured during the war. He left her and she found new love and moved to Isreal.
